Abstract

Phonological disorder (PD) is characterized by speech difficulties in which there is an inadequacy in sounds production as well as in the use of phonological rules. Phonological processes, simplification of phonological rules, are identified in PD children. Among the phonological processes most commonly found in a population of children with PD is the devoicing of plosive and fricative. Objective: To relate stimulability measurements (S), speech rate, vocal folds open quotient and the Percentage of Consonants Correct - Revised (PCC-R) in PD children with and without the presence of the devoicing phonological process. Methods: 20 children between 5:00 and 07:11 years old, diagnosed with PD, ten children with presence of the devoicing phonological process and 10 that do not present this process, all from Phonology Lab, of the Physiotherapy, Science and Communication Disorders and Occupational Therapy of Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. Children will undergo assessment in accordance with the protocols: phonology tests (picture naming and imitation) from Teste de Linguagem Infantil ABFW and stimulability test when it has an indication. Furthermore, it will be collected the data regarding the speech rate and electroglottography of all of them.
