Abstract

Significant advances in the access of trans people to higher formal education have marked the last decade. Although these actions are somewhat fragile and closely interdependent with measures to promote permanence, they define a new scenario: "cursinhos" [preparatory courses] for trans people have been created, the first trans people who used the "nome social" [social name] in exams to enter higher education begin to finish their courses, some of them pursue academic careers, and dozens of graduate programs in the country extend quotas for transgender people. The research proposal seeks, from the following of trans people inside universities and public "cursinhos" [prepatory courses] aimed at this "population", to understand processes of production of subjects of knowledge in their disputes and tensions. Therefore, it seeks to pay attention to the way in which trans people mobilize debates concerning the university and the production of knowledge; to individual and collective agency strategies, both in terms of access and permanence within the university and in its placement into broader networks; the categories mobilized in these debates and the processes of signification/resignification involved. To this end, this ethnography aims to articulate observations in events organized by/for people trans in these spaces with the following of the daily life of these subjects, allied to interviews and documentary analysis.
