Abstract

Participatory and normative approaches were conceived from a "future vision" to scenario building. These approaches spread out and are widely used for environmental researchers in the sustainability transition context (VERGRAGT E QUIST, 2011; UNEP, 2012). In the normative approach, the scenario is built through trajectories (actions, obstacles) linking the present and the future visions by back-casting methods (WOLLEMBERG et al., 2000). The main goal of this postdoctoral research, in the context of the thematic project, will be to refine the proposed participatory methods based on FOLHES et al. (2015) and AGUIAR et al. (2016), initially adapting them to different geographical contexts and scales of work, and doing literature review and field research. This activity aims to define a detailed protocol to apply the back-casting methods connecting qualitative and quantitative components of the project (models, indicators) in different scales. Finally, we will incorporate in a participatory way the SDG indicators ("Sustainable Development Goals") into the proposed methods, including mapping the global goals for the study areas at different scales.
