Abstract

It is intended to apply Fission Trace Method, MTF, in zircon to determine both the age and the thermal history of the basements located in the southern segment of the Brasília Belt, in the Bambuí Group, located in the state of Minas Gerais. Additionally, the U-Pb Dating Method (LA-ICP-MS) will be applied to zircon grains collected in the study area. Thus, a set of ages will be obtained simultaneously via MTF and U-Pb in the same zircon grains. This will allow a more comprehensive geochronological study of the Bambuí Group, which is a geological unit that underwent a low degree of metamorphism after the shocks of the three microcontinents: Paranapanema, Amazonas and Craton de São Francisco. In order to improve the MTF and U-Pb methodologies, it is also intended to carry out studies on the crystallography of zircon grains separated from the metamorphic rocks collected in the Bambuí Group.
