Abstract

This in vitro study will evaluate the influence that a desensitizing treatment may have on the bond strength of adhesive restorative material towards eroded and abrasive dentin. For this purpose, 40 samples of healthy third molars will be prepared using a diamond disc on a precision metallographic cutter. Then, the samples will be standardized so that they can be randomly divided according to the type of treatment they will receive (5 groups) on the dentin substrate (n = 10), before applying the adhesive system. The choice groups are: G1 - Without treatment (Control); G2 - Ultra EZ; G3 - Gluma Desensitizer; G4 - Clinpro White Varnish. The adhesive will be applied with Clearfil SE Bond (Kurakay Noritake), following the adhesive protocol recommended by the manufacturer. After that, three 2-mm-thick increments of a resin composite, using Filtek " Z350 XT composite resin (3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA), color A2 will be built upon the bonded dentin surface of each tooth-quarter and individually light-cured with the Valo Cordless device. To perform the quantitative analysis of bond strength, the micro-traction test (¼-TBS) will be done using a universal testing machine (Instron 4411, Instron Corporation, Canton, MA, USA) at a speed of 0.5 mm/min until failure, subjecting the samples to the traction load. The results obtained will be submitted to statistical analysis.
