Abstract

Heritage preservation is a process consisting of identification, conservation, protection, management and dissemination of monuments and sites, aiming to safeguard the testimonies of humanity for current and future generations. However, management and dissemination processes do not always guarantee physical and intellectual access to protected sites, making it difficult or even impossible for heritage interpretation. This work intends to study how interpretation is done in protected industrial sites of Campinas/SP, with the objective of elaborating guidelines applicable to interpretate both intact industrial sites or those in ruins. For this purpose, it will be studied literature corresponding to the themes of heritage interpretation and industrial heritage (intact or in ruins), national or international examples of efficient interpretation plans and initiatives on industrial sites will be analyzed, and the existing plans and initiatives for the studied cases in Campinas will be identified, thus allowing an analysis with all the information to elaborate the guidelines. It is expected to elaborate guidelines that guide the implementation of interpreative plans and initiatives that effectively consider both the communicative quality of heritage preservation and the characteristics of industrial heritage.
