Abstract

This project is a collaborative research with several international partners with diverse experience in disaster risk management aiming at the construction of risk and vulnerability indicators and the sharing of information to improve disaster resilience in South America and in the state of São Paulo. The candidate will work in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, Roorkee) to exchange experience on identifying available data and models to assess flood risk. This collaboration between USP and the IIT will contribute to the identification of standards and protocols for archiving and calibrating regional flood risk models. In cooperation with the IIT, the aim of this postdoc is to contribute to climate adaptation by reassessing wastewater treatment plants in a context of flood risk. The process of developing and pilot testing a Disaster Resilience Efficacy Index (DREI) will also contribute to the team in consolidating remote sensing technologies, artificial intelligence and big data approaches and methods, and evidence-based decision making for forecasting flood risk, response and preparedness.
