Abstract

Geodiversity is important for sustainability and environmental conservation, and one of the concepts that its recognition is based upon is of sites of geological interest. Knowing these sites, it becomes possible to propose measures that seek to preserve or present them to the general public. And, among several methods, there is promotion of geodiversity through in loco interpretive signage, considered to be practical and of low cost. Thus, this project aims to evaluate the current situation of the promotion of sites of geological interest in the hydrographic basins of Santo Antônio River and Guaxinduba river and elaborate, with laypeople as the target audience, proposals of interpretive panels for some of those sites. The project will be developed in five stages: 1st step - conceptual bibliographic survey and search for inventories of sites of geological interest inventories; 2nd - characterization and selection of sites of interest in the studied area; 3rd step - field survey to diagnose sites of interest; 4th step - elaboration of panels; and 5th step - elaboration of final report. This region was selected due to its high potential for promotion, the vastness of related literature available and the positive impacts associated with knowing local geodiversity, given that the regional natural environment suffers with anthropic pressure.
