Abstract

The wound healing process depends on many biochemical and physiological factors that trigger mediators to cellular activation and tissue reorganization. Depending on metabolic changes, wounds may take years to complete closure, and this results from the fact that there is no gold standard for effective skin wound healing. Thus, the search for a new product is necessary and red propolis has been seen with great interest for wound healing studies thanks to its composition, rich in phenolic compounds such as isoflavonoids and terpenes, possibly the main responsible for anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant and antitumor properties already cited in the literature. Therefore, formulations based on red Brazilian propolis will be administered topically on second-intention injuries in rats during 3, 7 and 14 days of treatment to evaluate fibroblast and endothelial cells alteration, mechanotransduction and angiogenesis by histological, immunohistochemical and molecular biology methods. This work is linked to the thematic project, approved by FAPESP (FAPESP: 2017/04138-8).
