Abstract

The use of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii for the accumulation of recombinant proteins has already been demonstrated by different researchers working with microalgal genetic engineering, however, there are proteins that have not yet been tested. Among them are some biological products that were, in 2015, considered as some of the priority medicines for the SUS (Unified Health System) in Brazil. In order to verify the possibility of using the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii for protein expression: infliximab, adalimumab, somatotropin, and filgrastim, microalgae chloroplasts will be genetically transformed by the biolistic technique. The expression, accumulation, and analysis of the molecule will be evaluated using PCR, western blotting techniques. (AU)
