Abstract

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, in which rules on the care to be adopted in such a scenario have been differing by different authorities (for example, health agencies versus political leaders), this study will aim to evaluate the effects of the presentation of discrepant rules of the contingencies by speakers with different levels of authority (teacher and child) on the maintenance of following rules in children, as well as verifying whether the level of authority will affect, differentially, the following or not of the discrepant rules. Twelve children aged 7 to 9 will participate and will be exposed to a task of choice according to the model (Matching To Sample - MTS) in a single session with 100 divided into 5 blocks. In blocks 1, 3, and 5, the rule presented by the computer will correspond to the contingency in effect. In blocks 2 and 4, a discrepant contingencies rule will be displayed by speakers with different levels of authority. To control the effect of the order, half of the participants will be exposed, first, to the presentation of the discrepant rule by the person with the highest level of authority, adult teacher, and then by the person with the lowest level of authority, child, and the other half will be exposed to the opposite order. The results will be analyzed for the accumulated frequency of correct and incorrect answers throughout the blocks, considering the single-subject analysis. In addition, the group results will be analyzed in terms of the average of correct answers per block (corresponding and discrepant), considering the two levels of authority manipulated in the study.
