Abstract

Since its first edition, the project "Political Institutions, Interaction Standards Executive-Legislative and Governing Capacity" organizes and updates data collection of federal legislatures in order to update Cebrap Legislative Database. Over the duration of the project, the bank has been incorporating more data and becoming increasingly complex. Currently, the Cebrap Legislative Database contains several tables, which can be thought of as smaller databases. Together they constitute four large groups of main data. The other tables make up smaller and more specific databases, divided according to the type of information, its location, and methodology of collection. The four groups of data cited above contain relevant information about the 1) Brazilian legislative production, 2) the Union Budget, 3) the career of parliamentarians and, finally, 4) roll-call votes. The information contained in these banks is crucial to the characterization of the functioning of Coalition Presidentialism and by their nature, they require constant updating. The Legislative Database is a source of data for the numerous fronts of research linked to the Thematic, but also for national researchers and international organizations that request the data. Throughout 2019, data from the Legislative Bank were requested more than 40 times by graduate students linked to programs from national and international institutions, such as UnB, FGV, Unifesp, UFMG, UFSC, among others, and Emory University, Texas A&M University, Minnesota University, respectively. Our data were also requested by teachers like Mariana Batista (UFPE) and Simone Diniz (UFSCar). The organization of these data is undoubtedly one of the greatest contributions of the thematic project and has systematically collaborated to open new fronts for research on the Brazilian political system and for comparative studies. Because nature of the legislative data, it is necessary that there is constant updating of the information, through the process of data collection and organization.(AU)
