Abstract

This project aims the isolation non-ribosomal bioactive peptides named peptaibols, produced by the fungus Hypocrea sp. Peptaibols are linear peptides, generally lipophilic, with 4 to 21 amino acids, which have in their structure uncommon amino acids such as ±-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib), and isovaleric acid (Iva) and hydroxyproline imino acid (Hyp). The fungus Hypocrea sp., originating from Antarctica, was shown to be a producer of a series of peptaibols. This project aims at the isolation of water-soluble peptaibols, present in bioactive fractions. Then, to identify the isolated peptaibols using HRMS, MS/MS, and 1D and -2 NMR techniques, as well as to evaluate their cytotoxic, anti-malarial, and antibiotic activity.(AU)
