Abstract

The aim of this study is to synthesize an experimental adhesive containing ²-TCP nanoparticles and characterize it in terms of biological, chemical and physical properties. The variation factor will be experimental adhesive, in 3 levels: 1. Positive Control: Commercial Adhesive (SBMP); 2. Experimental adhesive with ²-TCP nanoparticles and 3. Experimental adhesive without ²-TCP nanoparticles. To characterize the experimental material, 1. degree of conversion (% DC); 2. Knoop hardness (KHN); 3. Flexural strength (FS) and 4. Cytotoxicity (% cell viability) will be evaulated. Experimental dentin adhesive resins will be prepared by mixing Bis-GMA, TEGDMA, HEMA (50/25/25 wt.%), and photo-initiators and inhibitors. ²-TCP nanoparticles will be incorporated into the resin mixture at distinct concentrations, according to a pilot study. For the cytotoxicity and hardness tests, disc-shaped specimens (10 mm in diameter × 1 mm thick) will be prepared for each group (n = 3). For the flexural strength test, bar-shaped specimens (25 mm long × 2 mm wide × 2 mm thick) will be prepared for each group (n = 5) according to the ISO 4049. Data will be analyzed statistically using appropriate methods (± = 0.05). (AU)
