Abstract

This research investigates re-elaboration of the ethnic identity of indigenous students in higher education, based on the case of indigenous students at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). We will investigate how ethnic identity is mobilized, re-elaborated and negotiated in the field of relationships built at the university. It is understood that the identity re-elaboration movement is not univocal or homogeneous, but depends both on the repertoires, networks and desires of different students, as well as on the different invitations and opportunities that universities offer. Special attention will be given to students from Dourados (state of Mato Grosso do Sul), thus allowing a look at the processes common to the group of students of a university and ethnic and regional logics. Fieldwork is planned in this region, seeking to understand local expectations and experiences related to higher education. (AU)
