Abstract

Studying the challenges of platforming Brazilian television will allow a greater understanding of the processes of convergence between the media and technological markets, which transformed the media conglomerate Grupo Globo into a Mediatech Company and the streaming platform Globoplay the flagship of the group. The mediatech television company model adopted by the Globo group will be studied from the perspective of the current production of transnational serial fiction by TV stations in Spain and Catalonia. The transdisciplinary research is organized around 3 thematic axes: 1) emergence of models of television mediatech companies; 2) integration of the company's creative sectors in the horizontal model of television flow; 3) frontiers of streaming in the Brazilian audiovisual market. For Scolari (2018, position 231.8), "new interfaces need time to establish and consolidate connections with the rest of the socio-technical network." In this sense, the new interface that presents itself with the potential to establish and consolidate connections with the symbolic capital of telenovelas is that of Globoplay's 'Brazilianity network'. These and other questions are complementary to the themes discussed in the project approved in the CNPq Call No. 04/2021 - Research Productivity Grants (2022-2025): Challenges of platforming Brazilian television serial fiction. The developments of postdoctoral research may add new points of view to the work that is in its initial phase of progress. (AU)
