Abstract

In this research, the formation of the history of cinema in France between 1925 and 1957 is situated in their respective regimes of historicity: 1- at the time of the crisis that befalls French cinema after World War I (1914-1918); 2- the advent of sound and the formation of modern cinema (1929-1939); 3- the context of consolidation of archives and the animation of historical publications with more scientific criteria (1945-1952); 4- the formation of an international project for the development of historical cinematographic research (1952-1957). In these four regimes of historicity, I analyze the field of experiences and the horizon of expectations of different film historians to understand the genesis of the criteria, theories and perspectives mobilized in the conception of different historiographical genres, such as the technical, national, general, encyclopedic and biographical. From these premises, the project intends to accomplish a period of two months a documentary research in specialized funds preserved at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and at the Cinémathèque Française. Therefore, will be possible to fill in some gaps raised by the research in Brazil and engage with the methodology applied in the historical-cinematographic researches produced at the Institut de recherche sur cinéma et l'audiovisuel of the Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3.
