Abstract

Teaching and research institutions have recognized the importance of disseminating science and scientific dissemination activities have increased numerically. A next step is to analyze more deeply the impact and scope of these activities. One question refers to understanding how scientific dissemination activities could be developed to lead students from disadvantaged social strata to appropriate science and incorporate it into their set of values and interests. The objective of this project is to carry out a short-term research internship with the research group of Prof. Lucy Avraamidou at the University of Groningen. It is also expected to survey and understand how the scientific identity is established, especially with Chemistry, of minority groups participating in one of the research carried out by Prof. Lucy Avraamidou and what are the differences and similarities with respect to Brazilian minority groups. Training at a higher level and considering the public university as an option is not natural for most students in Brazilian public schools. Therefore, understanding the impacts of scientific dissemination activities on the appropriation of this public space and this career is very important to evaluate the results of the Thematic Project to which this proposal is linked, as well as to plan future actions involving the emancipation of the needy population.
