Abstract

Digital psychosocial interventions for the management of depressive symptoms may be a potential approach to reduce the mental health gap in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including in Brazil. For this reason, beyond the evaluation of their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness, data on implementation of these interventions are also needed. We are conducting two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to test the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the Viva Vida digital psychosocial interventions for the management of older adults with depression (PRODIGITAL-D) and subthreshold depression (PRODIGITAL) registered with primary care clinics in Guarulhos, Brazil. Simultaneously, we are conducting qualitative assessments of participants included in these two RCTs to investigate implementation outcomes of the Viva Vida programmes Aim: Analyze the qualitative data to evaluate implementation outcomes with focus on the contextual barriers and enablers of implementation of the Viva Vida programmes. Methods: Qualitative assessments carried out by phone with 48 participants (24 included in each RCT) will be analyzed thematically using pre-established categories and categories emerging from analysis. Conclusion: The BEPE fellowship will be an opportunity to analyze the data closely to specialists in process evaluation and implementation of innovative complex psychosocial interventions in LMICs from the King's College London.
