Abstract

Obesity is a chronic disease that is associated with the development of comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease and Diabetes Mellitus. The treatment options include lifestyle changes but weight regain is frequent and psychological intervention has shown efficacy for helping the process of weight loss, giving autonomy in decisions related to food, and motivation to achieve goals. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the nutritional status, by anthropometric assessment and body composition, before and after a therapeutic intervention, behavioral cognitive approach (CBT), aiming weight loss in patients at the Obesity and Dyslipidemia Outpatient Clinic (ODIS) of HCFMRP-USP with grade III obesity.
