Abstract

In the 13th century, the translation into Castilian of moralizing narratives begins to serve as mirrors of princes, that is, to upstate rulers in the conducting the kingdom. With emphasis on this documentation, the purpose of this research consists of analyzing the role of two narratives, i.e.: Barlaam y Josafat and Calila y Dimna, promoting practices of contrition and repentance. More precisely, this study aims to examine the importance of exempla for the christian beliefs in the Iberian Peninsula.
