Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: Gestational diabetes is the simultaneous development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and obesity in pregnant women. Diabesity is a problem as it implies both the lack of hyperglycemic control of the pregnant woman and the change in the conformation of the vessels, causing an in utero environment that is not conducive to the developing and growing fetus, which leads to harmful anthropometric outcomes in the newborn. Objective: To associate the effect of obesity in women, who developed GDM, with the perinatal repercussions of their offspring. Method: Prospective cohort study to be carried out at the Perinatal Diabetes Research Center (CIDP). The CIDP makes the diagnosis and clinical, obstetric and neonatal follow-up of pregnant women with GDM and the data obtained in the development of the DIAMATER project allow the research to be carried out. Not only will the anthropometric variables of the neonates be analyzed, but also pregnant women with GDM will be divided into two groups with and without obese pre-pregnancy BMI according to the DIAMATER project data. There will be association of these pregnant women with newborns. Keywords: gestational diabesity, gestational diabetes mellitus, GDM, obesity, anthropometric variables of the newborn.
