Abstract

New spatial studies have deepen about the social inequality and other urban problems in Brazillian cities. The socio-spatial differentiation, stimulated by external dynamics, related to the neoliberal logic individualism, worsening and acclelerating the process come to a rupture in the cities, the relationships between the diferrent groups are going to weakening, contributing for a city increasingly heterogeneous and fragmented. The Ituiutaba (MG) city includes specifities in your fragmentation socio-spatial processes, where a socio-spatial segregration is rooted in your urban expansion, causing peculiar socio-spatial marks. The performance of the estate agency in accord with the performance of the public authority´s action shapes the logic of its development. The objective of this study is to detect the present dynamics in urban space of a medium size city like Ituiutaba (MG), the socio-spatial fragmentation process and its consequences in the daily lives of city dwellers. To this end, methodological procedures will be adopted that allow, on the one hand, to characterize the history of the city in its structuring and restructuring processes and, in contrast, to analyze the personal networks of city dwellers of different socio-spatial profiles, seeking to understand the fragmentary dynamics, specific to this case.
