Abstract

The fabrication of microelectrodes for the detection of NO is the main goal of this research project. The surface of the devices will bemodified by using cobalt(II)tetra(3,4-pyridyl)porphyrazineporphyrazines (TRP), immobilized on the electrode surface by dip-coating or electropolimerization. Since NO coexists with other electroactive substances in biological fluids, protocols for the protection of the sensor surface will be examined to restrict the passage of interferents. Calibration plots will be constructed to establish a correlationbetween the current measured with the microelectrode and the concentration of NO in solution. Other relevant analytical parameters such as repeatability, reproducibility and detection limit will also be determined to assess the performance of the sensor. The practical application of the sensor will be examined by the detection of NO in mouse macrophage culture, and the correct positioning of the microelectrode will be done by using an electrochemical microscope (SECM).
