Abstract

In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in the area of nanotechnology, one of the most attractive fields contributing to the emergence of innovative products in strategic areas, mainly for the development of drugs. However, considering such growth, there are few toxicological and cytotoxic studies in order to have effective regulation and to ensure the health of the population and the environment. With the uncontrolled use of antibiotics, there was damage to medicine due to the development of resistant bacterial strains. In this way, nanomedicine sought to provide new effective means of making diagnoses and treatments and, alternatively to traditional antimicrobials, nanomaterials with potent action against bacteria were presented, among them, compounds derived from carbon and copper, which demonstrated relevant results in previous studies. However, in order to be sure of its application in complete biological models, it is necessary to evaluate these in gold standard cell profiles, where we have the possibility of analyzing the cytotoxic profile of these materials, such as carbon nanotubes with copper nanoparticles and the graphene nanopellets with copper nanoparticles using the 3T3 murine fibroblast cell line. During this study, different methodologies will be applied in order to obtain consistent results, such as evaluation of cell viability and analyzes of the oxidative and inflammatory profile of this in vitro model.
