Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The environmental changes that human beings have caused in recent centuries have compromised the maintenance of life and the balance of ecosystems. One way to circumvent climate change advances and mitigate global warming to rethink more sustainable ways of life, including new food production and consumption. With the increasing number of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs), nutritional epidemiology seeks to understand consumption interactions with the onset of diseases through indices that indicate nutritional quality using tools to understand individuals' eating habits. Associating planetary and nutritional health, the Planetary Health Diet Index (PHDI) was developed and validated, which diets with less environmental impact are evaluated using index. OBJECTIVE: Apply The Planetary Health Diet Index to NutriHS participants to measure the adherence of this population stratum to a diet with less environmental impact. Furthermore, comparisons will be made between the three centers and the association between the PHDI and sociodemographic indicators. METHODS: NutriHS is a cross-sectional, multicenter study (FSP-USP, Unicamp and UNIFOR) with the participation of nutrition students and trained nutritionists who answered a virtual form and a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). In total, information from 714 volunteers of both sex and participants from the three centers will be used to calculate the PHDI. The sociodemographic variables studied will be: gender, education and income.
