Abstract

For Brazilian Portuguese descriptions that provide elements about prosody in children's speech are rare (see main research project: FAPESP 2020/10144-3). Even rarer - not to say nonexistent - are studies dedicating to describe aspects of the prosody in children with atypical development of speech. From the international literature, it is known that children that present other speech sound disorders have more probabilities of presenting an atypical prosodic development (PEPPÉ, 2018). Therefore, this research project aims to describe one of the relevant acoustic parameters for prosodic functioning - the duration - in speech of children with atypical phonological development. Specifically, considering the alignment of this work with the main research project, we aim to describe duration of elements with prosodic focus in comparison with duration of the same elements in neutral sentences. After the measurement, we intend to answer if there would be differences on duration of elements according to the contexts analyzed, namely: sentences with narrow and broad focus.
