Objective evaluation of physical activity among adults in the city of São Paulo

Abstract

This fellow will be responsible for collaborating in the objective data collection of physical activity that will be measured by accelerometry from adults living in the Municipality of São Paulo. It will be a cross-sectional survey that will be part of the data collection of people who will be interviewed again in the longitudinal study that will use baseline data from the 2014-2015 São Paulo Health Survey (ISA). The estimate is to evaluate at least 800 adults who were interviewed distribute the devices for interviewers and later receive the devices from the interviewers. Upon receipt, the scholarship holder will be responsible for downloading the data. Levels of moderate and vigorous physical activity will be calculated, as well as levels of sedentary behaviour, which will be analyzed descriptively using means, standard deviations, minimum and maximum values and frequencies for the entire municipality and stratified by regions of the city. The scholarship holder must work 20 hours per week during the scholarship, with the first semester dedicated to data collection and the second to data analysis, presenting work at scientific meetings and writing the scientific article. The selected scholarship holder is a student in the undergraduate course in Physical Education and Health at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities of the University of São Paulo (EACH-USP).
