Abstract

The environmental and economic externalities resulting from the rapid growth of aquaculture activity have raised concerns not only among consumers who are increasingly seeking ecologically correct foods, but have also attracted the attention of businesspeople, managers and investors in the aquaculture sector who demand new sources of sustainable monetization for your business. In this context, the work aims to predict environmental externalities resulting from fish farm production in neotropical reservoirs and develop an innovative methodology to monetize environmental services associated with aquaculture activities. This project will be selected based on specific criteria for projects in Brazilian Union waters. Historical and on-site data will be collected from these, such as climatic, zootechnical, hydrological, and economic information. We will apply integrated bioenergetic modeling to the assessment of environmental carrying capacity. The results obtained from this methodology will make it possible to calculate the monetization of environmental services associated with aquaculture activities, which will present an option for a financial increase based on the natural capital arising from this activity.
