Abstract

Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease that affects more than 60% of population of dogs and cats, bringing local and systemic consequences. Given this, the objectiveof the present study is to evaluate and compare the effects of including specific health additivesoral in extruded dog food. A control ration without additives will be formulated and based onFrom this the experimental feed will be formulated, to which oral health additives will be added:cellulose, sodium hexametaphosphate, immunoglobulin Y-PG and seaweed. 30 will be usedadult and healthy beagle dogs, distributed in two blocks with six dogs per diet in each block, totaling 12 animals per treatment over 40 days. The experiment will be carried out in four stages, where they will undergo prophylactic dental cleaning and treatment with gluconate 0.12% (T0), blood collection to evaluate anti- and pro-inflammatory cytokines andcollection of bacterial plaque and saliva samples to evaluate the composition of the microbiotaoral, gingivitis index, assessment of dental plaque by the index score and the methodcomputerized and calculation index (T8 and T40) and, finally, animals that received the dietcontrol will receive the treatment diet and undergo the same analyzes (T70). For statistical analysis of the experiment, the assumptions of homoscedasticity of the variances and normality of errors and subsequently subjected to variance analysis by the F test. If differences are obtained in the F Test, means will be compared using the Tukey test (P<0.05).
