Abstract

The main goal of this research proposal is to determine the dose and dosing regimen required to ensure comparable pharmacological response to TB treatment in paediatric patients with pulmonary TB and EPTB, both DS-TB and DR-TB. For this we propose, on the one hand, the use of the modelling and simulation (M&S) in silico strategies to obtain population pharmacokinetics (PK) models. And the other hand, we will perform hollow fibre system (HFS) in vitro studies to obtain optimal PK and pharmacodynamic (PD) parameters of combinatorial anti-TB drugs for pediatric use, which will contribute to the aim of solving the WHO research priorities related to TB treatment in the pediatric population and the dosing recommendations for across the different age groups.
