Abstract

Women's rights and their constant violation are themes that have gained more notoriety in Contemporary Brazilian Literature. As so, it is intended, considering the literary works of the author Maria da Conceição Evaristo de Brito, also known as Conceição Evaristo, to identify, analyze, understand, and establish relations with Law about the matter relative to the violence against women in Brazil. The method that will be used is the bibliographic review and literary analysis of the books from Conceição Evaristo. Likewise, parallels will be made between relevant excerpts and other artistic manifestations, mainly with the music, as well as with other relevant arts to the discussion. Concerning the books of Conceição Evaristo, will be read Ponciá Vicêncio, Becos da Memória e Olhos D'Água. Also, a brief timeline of the legal milestones of gender violence in Brazil will be explained, relating it to significant examples in literary works and music, in the field of Law and Literature.
