Abstract

Chagas Disease is endemic in Brazil and other countries. In its chronic form, it can affect the heart, the digestive system (esophagus and colon) or remain latent. The nutritional status of this population is little studied, but nutrition plays a crucial role in health and resistance to infectious and parasitic diseases. This project aims to evaluate the subjective nutritional status of patients with chronic Chagas Disease in its different clinical manifestations.Participants will be recruited from the Chagas Disease Study Group and, after informed consent, their clinical and sociodemographic data will be collected. Then, a questionnaire will be applied to subjectively assess nutritional status (Subjective global assessment according to DETSKY et al, 1987).The data will be statistically analyzed to better understand the nutritional status of patients with chronic Chagas Disease.
