Abstract

The need to establish e-Sports as a technological and scientific area is the subject of various debates (Wagner 2006; Parshakov, Zavertiaeva, 2015; Coates, Pashakov, 2016). To address this recognition, it is essential to delve into several aspects, including the description and analysis of languages, specifically in the case we are focusing on: Brazilian Portuguese. Therefore, our proposal is to describe the terminology used in the context of e-Sports in Brazilian Portuguese, focusing on games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Valorant. This will be achieved through the collection, description, and analysis of terms in their usage context, considering the period from 2011 to 2024, aiming to propose a prototype of a terminological work. To accomplish this, we will compile a corpus that encompasses e-Sports and, based on it, apply terminological and terminographic skills, such as macrostructure planning, development of the medium structure, as well as the necessary microstructure. Guided by the Communicative Theory of Terminology (Cabré, 1999), its theoretical and methodological propositions, our aim is to create a prototype of an online terminological dictionary that contributes to better efficiency in communication among various professionals involved in e-Sports.
