Abstract

The project aims to explore how black immigrant influencers reinterpret cultural elements from the Brazilian periphery. While Brazilian influencers from the periphery challenge and resignify stereotypes associated with the working classes through peripheral culture, black immigrant influencers in Portugal, from Portuguese-speaking countries such as Angola, incorporate these cultural elements into their productions, offering new perspectives and interpretations. The study seeks to understand how these influencers promote peripheral culture and how this content contributes to the search for identification among other immigrants in a new country. The methodology includes a literature review to provide a theoretical basis on how race and immigration affect media perception and representation, mapping of influencers to identify the main figures who address Brazilian peripheral culture, and observational study to analyze the impact of this content on the identity and perception of immigrants. The expected results include an in-depth understanding of how these influencers reinterpreted peripheral culture, offering new perspectives and forms of identification among Portuguese-speaking immigrants.
