Abstract

Attitudinal barriers to the health of the child population with disabilities and the difficulty in implementing public policies are permeated by structurally ableist conceptions about disability. Thus, it is imperative to act on the redefinition of the conception of disability for nurses in the Family Health Strategy (FHS), since nurses stand out as an agent that enhances changes in health practices in the Unified Health System with a view to comprehensive care. The objective of this study is to analyze the process of resignifying the conception of disability for FHS nurses in the process of Permanent Health Education (PHE), taking into account the sociocultural conception of disability. This qualitative research is based on the participatory research-intervention method, which will be carried out through the resolution of collective problems, with the participation and cooperation of the researcher and participants involved, establishing a horizontal, dialogical and dialectical relationship. The historical-cultural approach will be used as a theoretical framework. The research is a continuation of a doctoral investigation and will employ semi-structured interviews and a research diary. The study will take place in a small municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo, after authorization from the Research Ethics Committee. The research is divided into two moments: 1. application of interviews to access information necessary for the construction of PHE; 2. implementation of the PHE, which will be structured into thematic axes. To analyze the data, we will use inductive thematic analysis. It is expected that the new meaning of the concept of disability will contribute to the inclusive literacy of nurses, provoking reflection on social and caregiving practice with children with disabilities.
