Abstract

One of the various challenges faced by patients in hospitals or those who are bedridden is pressure ulcers. These lesions occur with significant frequency and negatively interfere with the overall well-being and health of those affected. The market for medications to treat this condition lacks affordable and innovative products that contribute to the patients' overall health. In this sense, the present work seeks to develop a polysaccharide membrane containing extract from the seed of Spondias mombin L., for the treatment of patients with pressure ulcers. The obtained extract will have its bioactive compounds quantified, and its healing potential analyzed. The membrane will be developed with carrageenan and will undergo tests to determine characteristics such as appearance, in vitro release, mechanical properties, as well as the ability to absorb physiological solutions and evaluation of the healing potential.
