Abstract

This research project proposes a study of the critical reception of Clarice Lispector in France, focusing particularly on the decline observed after the publication of the collection Liens de famille in 1989. Although this volume benefited from a well-received translation by Jacques and Teresa Thiériot and from favorable institutional support, it paradoxically marks the dwindling of literary criticism on Lispector in France. Taking as a starting point the translation "Une poule" of the short story "Uma galinha" included in Liens de famille (1989), the project examines the reasons for this decline and the critical dynamics in the French context. The methodology combines the analysis of critiques of the author published in France with the principles of reception aesthetics. Through this approach, the project aims to better understand the factors that influenced this post-1989 decline and update the studies on the author's reception in the French context.
