Abstract

This research aims to investigate the life-political trajectory of Maria Antônia Soares (1898-1991), belonging to the anarchist nucleus active in the early twentieth century, in São Paulo. The objective is to analyze her corpography as a memory of the presence of working-class women in public space, at a time when streets were predominantly seen as a male space. It is questioned about the possibilities of filling historiographical gaps and reassessment of dominant narratives that make invisible the contributions of women in the symbolic and material construction of cities. Methodologically, the study is based on anthropological theories about body and space, dialoguing with gender studies and city studies, to explore the experiences of Maria Antônia and her paths, within a certain urban historical context.
