Abstract

The production of super-absorbing polymers from renew raw materials (sucrose) é the focus of this project. The sucrose functionalization with ethyl methacrylate produces hydrophilic monomers with different substitution degrees, those can be polymerized by radicalar initialization given polymers water-retaining polymers for agricultural uses in the place of acrylamide. Different parameters will be investigated like temperature, type of the initiator, chemical modifiers and stoichiometry. These parameters will be correlationated to the water retaining capacity. (AU)
