Abstract

This study is part of the theme project “The Ways of the Novel in Brazil – 18th and 19th centuries”. It intends to investigate circulation and acceptance of novels among readers of the Imperial Public Library in Rio de Janeiro in Mid-ninetheenth century. The data will be collected by examining 19 registration books of the Imperial Public Library used between 1833 and 1856, which will allow us to identify the readers and books they read.
