Abstract

Among the functions of existing indicators in the context of public management is the assistance in formulating and evaluating the implementation of public policies and actions, such as those contained in the cities Strategic Master Plans. In the city of São Paulo it has been developed indicators related to urban environmental thematic, exemplified by the system of indicators presented in the Global Environmental Outlook - GEO Process and in the Environmental Atlas of São Paulo city, with aim of evaluate and track environmental quality, helping in the process of decision making and still strengthening public participation and social control in public management. Meanwhile, technical-scientific analysis are still need to show the effective use of indicators in formulation and evaluation of environmental actions and policies, as those related to the implementation of a green areas system in the city of São Paulo. In this context, this project will analyze the effectiveness help of the existent indicators in planning and evaluating the execution of the actions predicted in São Paulo Strategic Master Plan, as in the Regional Strategic Plans, current and under review, specifically what concerns the implementation of linear parks on the east region of São Paulo.
