Abstract

In the second half of the 1990s, the evaluation of Brazilian education has been intensified. One of the actors of the implementation of this policy was the press, with the dissemination of evaluation results. The project is a documentary research, take as source the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo in the period 1999 to 2006, covering the Fernando Henrique Cardoso's second term and the Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva's first term. With the research has the following objectives: a) identify and compare the concepts of evaluation present in Fernando Henrique Cardoso's government and Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva 's government 's; b) clarify the links or not of the matter with the public policies of evaluation; c) identify the historical line that determined the development and implementation of public policies evaluation of Brazilian education included in the period between 1999 to 2006.
