The aim of this study will be to evaluate the radiopacity, staining ability and solubility and disintegration of calcium aluminate cement (EndoBinder, Binderware) plus 3 radiopacifiers: bismuth oxide (Bi2O3), zinc oxide (OZn) or zirconium oxide (ZrO2), compared to MTA (Ângelus). To radiopacity test, 18 test specimens will be made (n=3) with six different thicknesses (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm). A standardizing device will be used for radiography each group, the films will be processed and the optical density measured. The staining test will be made in 60 bovine incisors, in which, after instrumentation and root canals obturation, 2 mm of their fillings will be removed to prepare the cervical plug with the tested materials (n=10). Initial color readings (Easyshade, VITA, CIE L*a*b* system) and after 7, 15, 30 days will be performed. Color alteration (”E) will be evaluated every 30 days, until they complete 12 months. The solubility and disintegration test will be performed according to ADA Specification N° 57 and the resulting solution will be analyzed in Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (Model Z-8100, Hitachi) for identification and quantification of the elements leached by cements. The mean values obtained in the different tests will be analyzed statistically. (AU)
