Abstract

In this project, the proposal is to undertake structural modifications of kaurenoic acid, aiming to obtain some kaurane derivatives. All obtained derivatives will be submitted to antimicrobial activity evaluation against a group of seven microorganisms. Those microorganisms were selected from a group through the analysis of the results obtained previously with kaurenoic acid, which has presented good activity against them. Therefore, the evaluations of the derivatives have a good chance to reveal substances that could be medicine prototypes. A considerable amount of kaurenoic acid was already isolated, being available. Besides, some reactions of this kind of structure are described in the literature, what makes this a feasible project.
