Abstract

This thesis proposes a study on the construction of criteria currently used for the adoption of Portuguese language textbooks in High School. It takes as the object and source of study the National Program Guide Textbook (PNLD) published in 2012, investigating how this text sets out the criteria for approving titles of Portuguese Language to High School, how official documents impose an \"order\" to the books in the sense suggested by Roger Chartier (1990). By establishing the conditions for approval, PNLD also order the writing and editing of the titles recommended. It could not let articulate issues surrounding the adoption of textbooks with issues concerning Portuguese Language curriculum of High School, to the career paths of Program evaluators and needs posed by the publishing market, as these aspects are essential to understand the textbook as a product and, at the same time, producer of editorial and educational initiatives.
