Abstract

The cochlear implant stands out as one of the potentical technologies applied in the rehabilitation of people with sensorineural hearing loss pre-lingual bilateral, enabling an auditory sensation to the individual and conditions to learn repertories of speaker and listener. This work is a continuation of reseach at the interface of Audiology and Behavior Analysis, which have investigated the conditions under which pre-lingual cochlear implanted learn receptive and expressive skills. Chapter 1 of this paper presents the literature review which handles the relationship between the use of cochlear implants and language acquisition. For this, we conducted a studies review contained on the databases Web of Science® and LILACS®, the last 10 years (2003-2013) with the following key words, cochlear implant, auditory recognition, recognition, speech, speech production and language. After an initial treatment of the results, were selected for analysis 86 papers, were classified according to the following criteria: publication year, journal, research area, type of study, investigated repertorie and thematic general studies. Chapter 2 conducted a systematic review of the experimental analysis of hearing and speech production in cochlear implants's users, considering work objectives, characteristics of participants, procedures, teaching structure, the participants's sensitivity to the procedures considering the expansion of receptive vocabulary, reading with understanding and speech intelligibility. Chapter 3 conducted and experiment that examined whether the strenghering of the network of equivalence relations involving sentences (using other procedure usually adopted), offer conditions to improve speech intelligibility in tasks of picture naming actions. Participated in eight children with pre-lingual hearing loss, cochear implant's users, school age, who had good production speech in reading tasks of sentences. The materials used were... (AU)
