Abstract

The present dissertation has the objective to map and comprehend the political clashes related to the professional regulation of the architects in Brazil, made official by the Federal Decree n.23.569/1933. The analysis of the documentation related to the professional institutions ¿ Conselho Federal de Engenharia e Arquitetura, professional associations and schools ¿ emphasizes the tensions and disputes between diferente agents envolved with the construction Market in Brazil in the 1920¿s and 1930¿s. Through the analyses of the theses defended in the Pan-American Congress of Architects, the theme is understood as transnational and inserted in a continental network of debates in wich were articulated the professional demands. The political architectures, therefore, express the implications of this disputes over social and political legitimation of the architects and architecture¿s place in Brazil and in America during the first decades of the 20th century (AU)
