Abstract

Geochronology is essential to analyze and understand the evolutionary dynamics of the landscape and the present pedogeomorphological elements. This work analyzes the surface coverings of the low terraces of the Jequitinhonha river basin, located in the State of Bahia, and the climatic and geomorphological processes during the Holocene. A cartographic base composed of a geological, pedological, geomorphological and drainage map was prepared, which served as a subsidy for the morphometric analyzes - longitudinal profile of the low course and Transverse Topographic Symmetry Factor . The results of chemical and physical analyzes the ages of the absolute dating by OSL stimulated the interpretation of the depositional moment of the superficial coverings of the fluvial, fluvial and marine terraces of the lower Jequitinhonha (BA) river. In this way, this work is a contribution to the studies of the evolution of the coastal landscape during the Brazilian Holocene, mainly related to the climatic pulsations (AU)
