Abstract

This research was carried out in the Eje Cafetero - Colombia and in the Norte Pioneiro do Paraná - Brazil. These regions were the object of colonization processes, and today they are landscapes and territories that seek other strategies to maintain coffee production, one alternative being participation in the specialty coffee market. Currently, both regions conserve, to a lesser extent, the planting, harvesting and exporting of coffee that in the past represented the most relevant sector of the economy of each country, regions that continue to have importance for coffee, mainly due to the incorporation of new values in the production and the satisfaction of a more specialized demand. The main objective of this research is to understand the transformations of the landscape and the processes of territorialization of the Norte Pioneiro Paraná/Brazil and the Eje Cafetero/Colombia based on the dynamics of production and commercialization of specialty coffees in the market and its interscalar relationship for its analysis as an alternative for some organizations of small coffee growers in front of the production of commodity coffee. This study is based on the analytical-dialectical method, so the reflection will be developed through two central concepts (Landscape and Territory) that are interrelated in the process of scale/inter-scale relationship, revealing the main power relations, the contradictory tensions between different actors, processes and scales of action present in the dynamics developed between the production, commercialization and consumption of specialty coffees.
